What design is this!?! On the Dell Vosotro, you have to take out the LOGIC board to get to the hard drive.
There’s four screws with the familiar cylinder symbol, but those are LIES. There are *no other screws* holding this computer together at this point. ALL of the structural screws are hard drive screws.
Solid as a rock, but no easy access to the part MOST likely to fail.

Sure the top bezel/keyboard side doesn’t pop off with a few of those screws removed? Atleast it’s not Acer’s routing the power cable into the screen hinge so it wears out eventually.

I’ve been through that with a couple of brands. My company has over 5,000 computers, most of which are leased and are replaced every 2 years. One of the replacement models had this design. Our IT folks decided to punish the company (can’t remember if it was Dell or Toshiba) by sending every laptop that had a failed drive back to the manufacturer for a warranty repair instead of handling it in-house. I’m sure they got the message.

Positive. You have to take the display off to get the top case off because there is no access at all on the bottom case.
Lenovo did the same thing with the power-through-the-hinge on the Y470, and it has gotten caught on mine and ripped out the clips that held the power input in place -_-’
